4.  PREPARATION OF SEI

4.1  Support Equipment Illustration (SEI).  (see 6.3).

5.  CURRENCY OF INFORMATION

5.1  Maintaining data base.  Each service will constantly review the MIL-HDBK-300 digitized database via hyperlink (https://www.afmc-pub.wpafb.af.mil/HQ-AFMC/LG/lgi- page/lgis/MIL300/Milindex.htm).  Contracting activities can also access this site to review current MIL-HDBK-300 items for adequacy and currency of data.  Information for deletion of

unsuitable, obsolete, replaced or revised data pages will be submitted to the preparing activity for action.

6.  NOTES

6.1  Intended use.  The handbook database is intended to provide sufficient information on a piece of support equipment so that it may be considered for a contemplated application.  Use of this data system is intended to provide for maximum usage of in-inventory assets, and the elimination of duplicate design or development of support equipment for different weapon systems..

6.3  Preparation of SEI.  Previously, MIL-HDBK-300 required the use of MIL-STD-864 (Support Equipment Functional Classification Categories (FCC)), Data Item Description (DID) DI-E-6120 (Support Equipment Illustrations (SEI) and Technical Description), and DD Form

1786 (Support Equipment Illustration Form) to provide a product.  This resulted in a simple line drawing and a fairly detailed functional and technical description of the Support Equipment item. Now that MIL-HDBK-300 is an automated database, previous requirements have changed;

FCC's and the new format is now available on line using the MIL-HDBK-300 hyperlink, (https://www.afmc-pub.wpafb.af.mil/HQ-AFMC/LG/lgi-page/lgis/MIL300/Milindex.htm).

6.4  Changes from previous issue.  Marginal notations are not used in this revision to identify changes with respect to the previous issue due to the extent of the changes.
