COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
URINE SUGAR TEST TABLETS
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Interim Commercial Item Description which was developed by the Defense Personnel Support Center, Dirctorate of Medical Material, DPSC-RST, 2800 South 20th Street, Philadelphia, PA 19101, based upon currently available technical information. This document may be used in preference to A-A-51108, dated 26 November 1985.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be Urine Sugar Test Tablets.
Shall be suitable for the detection of urinary reducing substances using a modified Benedict’s Procedure (copper reduction).
Each tablet shall be composed of Copper Sulfate, Sodium Hydroxide, Citric Acid and Sodium Carbonate.
Shall be supplied in a bottle together with a detailed instruction sheet/color-calibrated chart.
Tablets shall be capable of detecting within 30 seconds urinary reducing substances employing a two or five Drop Method Test.
Workmanship. Bottle (BT). One bottle containing 100 tablets, as specified, constitutes one unit.
Contractor certification. The contractor shall certify and maintain substantiating evidence that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the producers’ own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
